Constitution v2.0

Constitution v2.0

Explore the proposed constitutional framework, the reasoning behind every provision, and the public record showing how the text changes over time.

Constitution v2.0 is a proposed constitutional framework for a hypothetical future nation, the United Republic of America. It keeps the strongest principles of the current Constitution, including constitutional liberty, democratic representation, and individual rights, while redesigning the institutions that carry them for a digital and interconnected century.

Every Article will be published with a plain-language Explainer covering what the text does, why that direction was chosen, and the evidence behind it. A provision-by-provision Comparison will show what the framework preserves, changes, adds, or removes, and a dated Version History will record every revision in public.

The text is roughly half written, and publication is planned for the first quarter of 2027. Until then, the sections below describe what each part will contain, and The Drafting Room shares the reasoning being developed along the way.

Declaration of Reformation

The public case for peaceful constitutional reform: why reform should be considered, what concerns motivate it, and how the Declaration relates to the proposed governing text. It is meant to make the argument in the open before asking anyone to read the text itself, and to state plainly that change must come through lawful, democratic means.

Articles

Explainers

Plain-language companions describing what each Article does, why its approach was chosen, the evidence behind it, and the alternatives or tradeoffs considered. Sources will be cited directly in each Explainer, and an Article will not be published until its Explainer is ready to go with it.

Comparison

A provision-by-provision account of what Constitution v2.0 preserves, changes, adds, or removes compared with the existing Constitution. It is meant to let readers judge each change on its own merits, and to make clear how much of the current framework the proposal deliberately keeps.
